ZDNet UK is running an outrageous article "VeriSign hits out at redirect critics"
wherein Verisign vows to fight back against the "prejudice and bias of a few folks who have a set way of doing things."
This is an outrageous response. The internet has had a set way of doing things for years. At one time Network Solutions almost seemed happy to play by the rules of those set way. They seem to have adopted a doctrine of exploiting this wonderful resource for their own gain by betraying the community that were designated to serve. Given this outrageous position, its time that you and the "prejudiced few" parted ways.
I urge each and every one of you to make your voice heard and request that ICANN and the Department of Commerce rebid the critical registry operations infrastructure for .com and .net be immediately rebid and that the contract be specifically awarded to a provider that will commit to serving our community in exchange the substantial financial windfall that comes from running the technical functions.
This can work - send letters and emails to ICANN, its staff and its board of directors that clearly outlines how Verisign has betrayed the trust we have placed in them and what you propose that ICANN should do about it. Do the same for the Department of Commerce. The "prejudiced few" does have a say in how the DNS should work and who is responsible for making it work. Make sure that your voice is heard. Please send me links to copies of your letters and I will include them here when I receive them. I will also post a copy of my letter later today for your review.

I've commented in my blog. By including the full archived URL, will this create a trackback? Or is there something else I need to do?
