If you are a salesperson and call me and ask me "Can you tell me who is in charge of..." I'm probably not going to give you a straight answer.
See the thing is, if we need something, we'll come find you. I don't much care how great you think your product is, if we were into buying it now, we'd be out shopping.
Don't cold call me. It is a total interruption and I'm pretty unlikely to sell out one of my co-workers to your inquiry just to get you off the line. This means that you are going to get stone walled.
If you really, really, really need an introduction to someone who works here, send me an email. You'll still get screened, but I'm much more likely to forward along a request when I receive it via email than I am when I get it via telephone.
