Big wind all the way out, nice push on the way back. Added about 3 KM to the route by looping through the CNE on the way out and on the way back (instead of just on the way out and then back up through Britiish Columbia drive on the way back....)

Went out for my first pre-work ride this year so far. Nice morning. Blew the saved settings on the cc, so these are calculated based on what was saved against what the HRM said.

Lots of hills today. Big hills. Managed to keep a decent pace, but it tired me out pretty quickly. Too much Easter chocolate.

Wired up a new cycle computer today, so I'm able to log a bit more than I was previously. Went for a great, long ride - probably my longest yet. The new gear certainly makes a big difference over last year. Being in better shape helps too.

I picked up my new bike today. Its a little treat for myself as a reward for quitting smoking and getting into shape. Got an excellent deal on it and promptly took it out for a spin this afternoon. It was a little bit chilly, but it was nice getting out again. The bike has an amazing ride - definitely worth the few extra bucks that I paid for it over the old one.

I'll be sorry to see the old one go to a new home, but given the number of miles I put on last year (just under 600km on the Schwinn and roughly 800km on the Suteki I had prior to that) it was definitely time to get into something more serious. The Fuji is slightly lighter and more rigid than the Schwinn. The frame is also slightly bigger. I also upgraded to clipless pedals and got into a new pair of road shoes. The net result is that I'm getting more power to the pedals and the bike doesn't feel like its sliding around underneath me.

I'm really looking forward to getting out on it more, especially as the weather gets nicer.

Cyclelog:

TIME: 35:25, IZS: 27:53, AVG HR: 138
Note: Took the usual route from last year, roughly 15km. Definitely need to get a computer hooked up to this thing. I'm definitely going to try and log more this year. C  |  T (64)  |  #
