The BloggerCon OPML has been curiously transported into my Blogroll.

Nice timing for a new Blogware feature pre-release - multiformat Blogroll imports.

ICANN's Security and Stability Advisory Committee doesn't really have a problem with Sitefinder, but the IAB does. According to this exchange, here's why:

"The IAB took the position of comparing the VGRS proposal to the standard specifications, and noted a number of aspects of the proposal where the mechanism did not conform to these standard specifications. The SECSAC appears to have looked at this matter from the  perspective of operational deployment."

There's a third dimension beyond this that isn't addressed by either letter - community stewardship. In other words, thanks for the notice guys.

On that note, unconfirmed rumors indicate that Sitefinder will be formally rolled out this coming Friday (absent Virginia falling into the sea). Apparently what we've seen this week is just a test.

Vixie describes root server system politics...

"root zone content is tied up in all kinds of red tape.  the root server operators won't modify it in any way; we publish only what we get from iana. iana and verisign and the united states department of commerce all have to agree on changes to it.  imagine a "mexican standoff" with three people and six guns.  with the ietf/iab as referee and scorekeeper, and the rootops as an interested audience.  ("entertain me!")"
