Adam Curry: "Somehow there's more to all this opml business..."

There’s a ton more to OPML (and even OCS) that users are missing out on. These directory formats have a ton of potential.

Globe1-smIn fact, OPML, and OCS might even be as big as RSS someday.

Maybe someday.

Problem is, authoring tools to create OPML and OCS documents  are essentially non-existent. Users need access to tools that can easily produce the types of directories that they want to publish. I’m not talking about an XML, OPML or OCS editor. I mean something slightly different. I’m talking about tools that make publishing and reading OPML as easy as current tools make it easy to publish and read RSS. Very transparent, very straightforward and despite the obvious subscription handicaps that RSS currently suffers from, very simple to deal with.

Unless this happens, then formats like these will continue to sit on the fringe.
