I finally got home this morning from Bloggercon to two messages regarding ecto - one from Adriaan and one from Alex. Each requested further details about the problem I blogged last weekand asked for access to a Blogware account that they could do some interoperability testing with.

Of course, this was a no-brainer.

Since I hadn't installed ecto on my laptop, I couldn't give them all the details that they had asked for. I went to the ecto for Windows development blog and was met with a nice surprise. Alex has released two new versions since I first downloaded the application. And, lo and behold, he had fixed the interop problem with his first post-announcement release of the new client - about a day before I posted my initial reaction to the application.

Needless to say, I'm really pleased that this was taken care of so quickly. I also feel a little bit foolish in not sending Alex or Adriaan an email before I posted my experience to the weblog. Almost looks like a sucker punch looking back on it. It certainly wasn't intended as one - I really need to realize that weblogs aren't a great way to give people feedback. Very public and you can never be sure whether or not the object of your criticism will even see it.

Mea culpa.

I'm quite looking forward to using this new application in conjunction with Blogware. I'll use it for a week and report back next Sunday. And make sure that I send an email to Alex letting him know what I think when I do.
