John Robb "Computer Cops": Is the tool Google or Carnivore? [via John Robb's Weblog]
This is a probably a thought more at home in a bad Hollywood conspiracy flick than it is here on my mostly level-headed blog, but is it remotely possible that Google is Carnivore? US law enforcement agencies do work with massive ammounts of data procured from various private enterprises on a regular basis, why not Google's index?

Nice observation. It's perfect. Funny how when a tool is in our hands and used by us, it's a godsend, but when a similar (the same?) tool is in the hands of the government, it's vilified. I'm not sure it's a *bad* Hollywood
story. I like the idea of a valued tool in the people's hands that really has a nefarious purpose. Trackbacks
